No 'poo!

Hello :)
Now, if you haven't caught on by my title, I am not saying that the effectiveness of my bowels has become ineffective. That's all I plan to say on THAT subject. With that out of the way I will now explain the concept of "No 'Poo".
Steps to "No 'Poo":

1. Take your shampoo and conditioner and throw them out the window.

2. Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 cup of water.

3. Put a little of this mixture in your hair, but mostly concentrate on your scalp where most of the oils in your hair come from. As your scalp heals so does your hair.

4. Mix 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 cup of water.

5. Put a little of this mixture in your hair. This will act as conditioner to untangle your hair.

You will only need to do this once or twice a week. The measurements are flexible to what works for you as well. You can put them in your old shampoo bottles too. Reduce, reuse, recycle! Don't forget to shake it up before use though! You only need to do this for one or two of your showers every week.

I started this method about a month ago.I started it because I developed an allergic reaction to every single shampoo I used. Specifically one. I used it for a week and I scratched my head one day and it started to bleed. Feel free to be disgusted by my head now. I was. I knew I had to do something different so I started reading about No 'Poo. I learned it's healthier and cheaper for you. Shampoo has chemicals that strip your hair of natural and healthy oils. All these chemicals seep into the pores in your skin and can stay there for a long time.

After I started this method I noticed an immediate change in my scalp. After this month of No 'Poo my head is still kind of dry,but it is getting better and is a drastic change from when it bled from a simple brushing. My hair is also much more well behaved. I have naturally dry hair and it is already much less dry, but not oily. It's less frizzy. I have hardly put any hair products in it and it holds a style.Of course I still have to straighten my hair sometimes, but I have big wavy curls so it's natural I would straighten it sometimes. My mother has also hopped on the No 'Poo train. Her hair did take longer to adjust, but she has tight curls. Her head was also breaking out from shampoo. This was mostly due to her diabetes. Her head is now almost completely healed along with mine! Yesterday she only put Curly hair lotion in her hair and it didn't explode as bad as usual. She normally uses that lotion, mousse, spray gel, and anything else she can find to make her hair stay put. (and it usually doesn't)

I started No 'Poo the week of my prom. That might not have been the wisest decision, but my hair behaved despite the recent change!

Time for prom pictures!!

Bread making, turtle catching, and Name That Turtle!

Hey Everyone! Things have been extremely busy lately, but now I am finally here to post! We had a lovely Easter and I hope you did as well! We went to my papaw's house and ate, hunted eggs, and played pool (sort of). The roses at his house were beautiful!

And this is my beautiful little cousin, Piper!

She was absolutely loving the bubbles!
My Papaw also gave me an almost brand new bread maker! I was absolutely stoked! I have been dreaming about bread makers ever since I knew they existed! For my first loaf of bread I simply made a classic white bread. It was SO good.
                                                                       The Bread!
                                                                  The Bread Maker!
                                                                   Me and my bread!
The bread maker also makes Pasta! I LOVE PASTA!!! Yeah, bread makers are great :) Just so you know.

Now, this is a very important point in my blog. It is something I am OBSESSED with and IN LOVE with. Turtles.Guess who went turtle hunting!!!! This girl! Went about 2 weeks ago.We found one and my daddy loves me so much that he took his socks and shoes off and went in the pond and caught it! We went home with one turtle that day! This is Baljeet!!

Now, naturally we thought that he needed a friend. So, the next week we go for more turtle hunting! Daddy, Chad, Isaiah and I all went. The first hour we hunted it was a little too cool for turtles to be out. We didn't have much luck and only saw one or two. Then, a little while later I hear Chad and Isaiah shouting,"Woah, yeah bruh! Sweet!" and I looked up to see their lanky selves attempting to dance. They caught a turtle! The littlest turtle I ever saw!

Isn't he the cutest?! Chad claimed him as his turtle. I think that's fair. He was completely covered in moss when we found him. It was gross. How could such a young turtle be covered in so much moss? Now he is much cleaner or something. I don't know if you could consider a turtle "clean". After that, they left to take Isaiah home. Now, considering I had gone turtle hunting twice and caught nothing I felt that I needed to prove myself. And I REALLY wanted to catch a turtle. So, In the thirty minutes they were gone I caught two turtles!
This one is nameless along with the teeny one.
I don't know why this picture has such an odd angle. But yeah, it's cute anyways!
And then I caught this one! Molly!
So, these are our turtleses!! I just love them.
Just in case you didn't notice We lack the names for two of them. That's where you come in with name suggestions! You can help name this one
                                                            And this one!

Obviously i can't turn the pictures right or something, but yeah. Haha. Thank for for reading and please comment name suggestions!!

What's been going on.

My brother is out of town this week!! It's been great. I admit, I don't miss him. It's been oddly silent and I can live with that. He'll be back Sunday. He's at a basketball tournament thing. He's supposed to be playing. If he doesn't get play time Imma get some people. . . . Well, yeah. Anyways, After we dropped him off at his friend's house Monday we went to the Boys' Ranch for a girls' day! Ironic right? I think I got pretty good pictures considering my lack of photographing skills. Well, the animals made them awfully cute and entertaining!

                                                     Baby sheep!!!
Horses sound funny when they eat.
                                                              This horse was really pretty.
And then it made this face!
This was the miniature pony, Shorty!

                                                                The sheeps!!

All the animals and their babies!!
The cute little chicks that I was too slow and wimpy to catch!
This is a wedding present my mother and I made.
This was a knit bracelet idea I found on pinterest!
I'm making a camouflage one next!

We are going to a hats and tea party at my church next weekend and I intend to go turtle hunting this weekend if the weather will cooperate. . So we'll see how that goes :)

Til next time!

Blogging. I haven't done this in a while!

Merry Christmas!!
Happy New Year!!
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!!
Happy Valentine's day!!

I have failed to post for all three of these holidays. That is sad. Ever so sad.
I have been very busy lately.

Gift making took over my life. I made jewelry, food, and wall decorations from clay. Then, I broke half of the wall decorations and started over after I cried. The next ones worked much better.
But, all together I had a very lovely Christmas!! We also were attacked by exploding enchilada trays!

Evidently this is a very common affliction.

This is my brother and my boyfriend. Chad picked a fight with Curtis who was holding a meat cleaver. Chad reached over and grabbed his weapon of choice, the spatula. .

New Year-
I went to Gatlinburg with some friends! It was very extremely fun.
BUT (there always must be one) There was a MOUSE!!
Alright, so it's the first night we are there. All is well. We go to bed. My friend Patricia and I wake up about an hour later to this HORRID screeching. It's coming from the window. So, we leap out of the bed    and she was all like,"What do we do?!" And I was all,"GET THE GROWN UPS!!" And she says,"No! We don't want to wake them!" Me-"I'll wake Caitlin!" *Insert me dashing across the room* "Caitlin! Wake up! There's some CREATURE in the window!" *Insert everyone in the room waking up* Caitlyn's all,"Wake up my parents." OKAY! So we dash through the living room and into the kitchen where we run into Christian and Lee. Me-"There's a creature in our window!!" So, they march into the room prepared to take on this screeching beast. Then Curtis wakes up. Next time I'm attacked by some screeching creature in the night I WILL NOT call on him for help. He was so stinkin' grumpy. I prefer the screeching beast to my grumpy boyfriend. ANYWAYS. They guys are in there beating on the windows and the wall trying to see if it will scurry out. It didn't.  So, they came out and told us that there was a loose outlet and that's probably how it got in the wall. Real comforting right? So they tell us to just go back to bed because the screeching stopped. Patricia and I went into the room and moved the bed to the other side of the room with our heads at the foot of the bed, Then, we checked and shook out the sheets, banged on the wall, zipped up our suit cases and cut out the light except one lamp because we were too scared to have them all off. As we closed our eyes to attempt sleeping the beast started scratching and squeaking. We could hear it moving along the wall. It sounded like it was going towards the outlet where Emily was sleeping. Patricia and I started speaking panicked gibberish sounding somewhat like."Emily-- rat-- it--wall-- AHHHH-- OUTLET-- SOUND!!!" Emily sits up and shouts,"I'm coming over!" and leaps about 5 feet from her bed to the bed her sisters were in. And we slept in fear for the rest of the night.

BUT other than a very frightening sleepover with the screeching beast the trip was great and there were no fatalities! The creature did not present itself throughout the remainder of the trip.

We also brought in the New Year in Gatlinburg. they still had the lights up and it was so pretty. I have a few pics, but I had an awful camera with me so not many turned out. . Here's one. .

Yeah, that's pretty much all that turned out of the lights.

For Valentine's day Curtis and I went out on a double date with our friends Patricia and Christian. We went to IHOP. I had coupons! :) I made Curtis some peanut butter fudge. He left it in my fridge. then became daddy and Curtis' fudge even though I made my daddy a pan all his own.

This is my Valentine's day present. Flowers and a bear I named Charlie Brown. Because he looked like a Charlie and he is brown. :) He's cute and awful soft. I really wanted to name him Charlie Dink, but everyone beat me down to the point that I surrendered to Charlie Brown.

Now, I am one spring break and all the kids are home. Oh, joy. Miranda also has a friend over. So far we've had a grumpy Brent throw the laptop screen back to far and break both hinges and a hysterical Miranda thinking she swallowed an ant after which she cried for a good half hour. I kindly informed her that a human swallows three spiders while sleeping in the average human lifetime. The point of telling her that was for her to realize "Oh, at least it wasn't a spider!" But I don't think that's what she took from that fact. . I've also learned how to knit and this morning I tragically reached the end of my yarn RIGHT BEFORE binding off. Now I have to go to the store and find that same yarn so that I can finish my neckwarmer. Not that it really matters because it's practically summer anyways, but you know. . Yeah. .
We went to team basketball parties a couple weeks ago. Here's some pics.

Oh, and Chad broke the truck windshield. With his knee. How? Oh, you know. The brilliant 14 year old boy thought it would be smart to climb over the top of the truck to get into the bed to hide while they were playing hide and go seek. While he was in the action of climbing he hit his knee on a small crack that was already there. That crack isn't small any more.

He also dented the hood. See?

And this is the compact story of what happens in my daily life. . Tune in next time!
